US edtech funding touches almost $1 billion in first half of 2019
U.S. edtech sector breaks record after securing approximately $1 billion in funding in the first half of 2019, which includes 65 deals. While in the first half of 2018, U.S. edtech sector received nearly $750 million which includes 62 deals. Out of the total funding, Coursera raised $103 million in a series E round of funding. Andela, an edtech company that trains programmers also raised $100 million in a series D round of funding. The above two deals count up 21 percent of the total venture funding in U.S. Other top edtech company, Examity, which provides exam proctoring tools, also raised $90 million in a funding round. This huge investment in U.S. education market shows the potential and importance of education in a student’s life. These funds would increase the level of competition in the market and will also boost up the courage of entrepreneurship.
