TAL Education Group invested $5 million in Vedantu

Beijing based education and technology enterprise, TAL Education Group has invested $5 million in Vedantu, a Banglore based edtech startup. Vedantu is an interactive online training platform where teachers provide assistance to students over the internet, using a real-time virtual learning environment named WAVE, a technology built in-house. Earlier in November 2018, Vedantu had raised $11 million in a Series B funding, which was led by Omidyar Network.

By getting investment of $5 million, Vedantu became the first Indian education company funded by TAL Education Group. “India is a huge market and we are excited about its potential,” said Luo Rong, Chief Financial Officer, TAL Education Group. In China, the distribution of education is uneven in urban and rural areas, but TAL is able to remove these education gaps with the help of their strategies. This investment would motivate Vedantu to expand their operations internationally and increase their user base.
