St. Paul, Minn.-based edtech startup Reflection Sciences has raised $1.3 million in a seed funding round, which was led by Edmentum, which is Reflection’s K012 distribution partner. Edmentum has raised $25 million in debt financing last year. The participant includes the University of Minnesota’s Discovery Capital Fund. Reflection Sciences was founded in 2014 by the faculty members of the university’s Institute of Child Development and offers executive function development, training, and tools. For the children of age 2 and older the company uses the Minnesota Executive Function Scale as a measurement tool for executive function. Executive function skills are correlated with social development, school readiness, academic achievement, and mental and physical health.
