Ramesh Pokhriyal, MHRD minister releases EQUIP, a five-year vision plan to transform higher education

The Indian education sector is attempting to transform the higher education sector in the country. The MHRD has released an ambitious five year plan. The plan has been named as Education Quality Upgradation and Inclusion Programme (EQUIP). This plan will be taken to the cabinet for the approval after inter departmental consultations. The Prime Minister Narendra Modi has finalized a five year plan for each ministry. The plan was prepared by 10 groups, which includes experts like former Revenue Secretary Hasmukh Adhia, Principal Scientific Advisor K Vijay Raghavan, Niti Aayog CEO Amitabh Pant, former Infosys CEO Kris Gopalakrishnan and Rediff.com founder Ajit Balakrishnan. These experts suggested more than 50 initiatives that would help tp transform the higher education sector in India.
