OpenSesame raises $28 million in a series C funding round

Portland, Ore.-based, OpenSesame, has raised a $28 million in a Series C funding round. The round was led by FTV Capital with participation from Altos Ventures. OpenSesame was founded in 2011and it is an online corporate learning marketplace. The company has raised at least $45.1 million in total funding till now. Altos Ventures has also invested in Quizlet, a gaming education platform. The company is currently serving businesses like Siemens and Caterpillar. OpenSesame has more than 20,000 courses and subjects, that ranges from machine learning to leadership program. These classes are presented by third-party creators and those creators set the price according to them. These educators keep about 60 percent of the revenue and remaining going to OpenSesam. The company aims to use the raised money for hiring almost 60 employees and they want to achieve the target of employing at least 140 employees by the end of the year.
