History chapters to be reduced from NCERT books
MHRD has decided to reduce the syllabus from the subject “History”. From the new academic session, all the irrelevant chapters will be removed from the textbooks. NCERT has made these changes only for classes 9th and 10th. Textbooks of both the classes will have three fewer chapters. A 10th class textbook that has 200 pages, will now have nearly 128 pages. Class 9th textbooks will no longer contain chapters related to caste conflict as they will be removed to rationalize the curriculum. Some of the chapters that are removed from the textbooks are “Peasants and Farmers”, “The Story of Cricket” etc. By removing some chapters from the textbooks, MHRD would reduce the burden on students and they can focus more on core subjects like Mathematics and Science.
