Government introduces Integrated Teacher Education Programme

Mr. Ramesh Pokhriyal, ex MHRD and current Union Minister informed the press about initiatives taken by the government to boost the quality and profession of teaching in India. Integrated Teacher Education Programme (ITEP) has been introduced by the government to provide training and offer graduation in primary and secondary education. To ensure the quality of education, Right of Children to Free and Compulsory Education (RTE) Act has been revised. The amendments in the act include a reference on class-wise, subject-wise learning outcomes for all elementary classes. The teaching course for teachers was started in October 2017 and by now 9,58,513 teachers have successfully completed the training. Indian states and union territories will be judged on the 70 indicators based matrix Performance Grading Index (PGI) that is designed by the MHRD. The government has given the approval to set up youth and eco club in all government schools across the country.
