ESS (Education Solutions Services) Acquires Texas-Based Proximity Learning

Knoxville, Tenn.-based school staff provider “ESS” (Education Solution Services) has acquired an Austin, Texas-based company “Proximity Learning”. Proximity Learning offers certified virtual teachers on rent. The acquisition terms are not yet disclosed. Founded in 2010, ESS was formerly known as Source4Teachers. By providing more than 40,000 virtual educators for students, it has served more than 2.5 million students and the company has more than 700 district partners all over the world. Proximity Learning uses web conferences to connect teachers to the classroom for lectures. This technology also helps these teachers to connect with parents. Proximity Learning charges $40 per student for each of their online courses. Proximity Learning CEO Evan Erdberg said, “We’re thrilled to partner with ESS’s platform to bring together market-leading substitute staffing capabilities with an innovative virtual teacher offering for school districts that have difficulties filling a vacancy. We believe this is a real win for all K-12 schools.” This acquisition of ESS will help it to grow its roots and platform of short and long term substitutes of K-12 teachers.
