CBSE Session 2021-22: Syllabus remains same, old Chapters restored
Due to the ongoing pandemic situation, earlier this year, CBSE decided to cut the syllabus for the 2020-21 Board Exams by 25-30%. According to the new curriculum, the syllabus of classes 9 to 12 in the year 2021-22 will not be reduced. “The board already announced last year that the rationalization exercise was a one-time initiative as teaching and learning through online mediums or alternative methods was fairly new then,” a CBSE official said. All the teaching and learning activities all over India have shifted to online mode during the lockdown. Few of the states did allow the partial reopening of schools in October for board students to clear their queries with teachers face-to-face, but due to a resurge in the number of COVID-19 cases, the schools had to resort back to online classes in the new academic session. CBSE faced backlash from some of the academicians and opposing political parties as they claimed that the changes were “ideologically driven”, but principals welcomed this syllabus cut as the students were in relief. The CICSE has yet to release its new academic session’s syllabus.
