Azim Premji Foundation to set up a university in North India
Bangalore-based Non-Profit-Organisation (NPO), Azim Premji Foundation announced to set up a university in North India, to scale up its network of institutions in order to improve the quality of higher education. Wipro’s Chairman Azim Premji also announced to give 34% more shares of the company worth ₹52,750 crore to support philanthropic activities and make Azim Premji Foundation one of the biggest foundations in the world. In 2010, the foundation has also set up Azim Premji University in Bangalore to develop outstanding professionals in education. The organisation aims to provide an opportunity for youngsters to study in a safe and comfortable environment.
