Edtech giant “2u” acquired “Trilogy” for $750 million

2U, a US-based edtech company that offers online degree programs has decided to acquire coding bootcamp provider “Trilogy Education Services” for $750 million in cash and stock. Trilogy provides online and offline training programs in data analytics, coding, UX/UI and cybersecurity in more than 50 cities across the world. “Increasingly, universities are attempting to add practicals, technical skills to their degrees. We simply future-proof the degree by adding this type of technical competency and We expect the addition of Trilogy to accelerate our path to $1 billion in revenue by one year from 2022 to 2021”, said Chip Paucek, CEO and co-founder, 2U. In 2018, 2U offered 30,000 short term courses to students from 150 countries. And till now Trilogy has enrolled more than 20,000 students and graduated students have been hired by more than 2,250 companies including, Google, Microsoft and Bank of America.
